Battuello 2018 Valdiguié (St. Helena)

This producer has been growing Valdiguié since the 1920s. This red is immensely appealing and approachable. Showing just a tiny bit of underlying grip, it stays lively and focused, with a hint of baking spice and vanilla. VIRGINIE BOONE

Battuello 2019 Rosé of Valdiguié (St. Helena)

From estate-grown grapes, this wine is acid-driven and steely, made in a light, fresh and austere style. Lemongrass, lemon peel and wet stone accent the palate and intrigue. The variety is a rarity in the New World, let alone the appellation. VIRGINIE BOONE
