2019 Battuello Vineyards Valdiguié Rosé
Juicy strawberry color. The nose shows raspberries, white cherries, red apple, watermelon rind, along with rhubarb and celery seed. Juicy and ripe on the palate, but it shows crisp and focused acidity, along with a crushable, delicious feel. Mint, flinty, white pepper and magnolia tones add complexity. Fun and delicious but shows solid complexity and depth. (90 points IJB)

2019 Battuello Vineyards Valdiguié Rosé
The 2019 Valdiguié Rosé has been a classic at the estate for decades and I tasted why. The wine burst with aromas and flavors of strawberries, raspberries and ripe melon. Refreshing and fruit-forward, everything about this wine was incredibly satisfying.

2019 Battuello Vineyards Valdiguié Rosé
This rosé is lively, bright and packed with fruit. It evokes Thanksgiving cranberries and pink grapefruit with just a hint of cinnamon. Very appealing and superb balance with brisk acidity, nice depth and outstanding persistence. 100 cases made 12.5% alc. 91.

2019 Battuello Vineyards Valdiguié Rosé
This wine is 100% valdiguié, a grape grown primarily in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. It comes in at 12.5% ABV.
The wine showed a pale salmon color. Cherry, raspberry, strawberry, peach and whiffs of lemon all arrived on the nose. Cherry, strawberry, watermelon candy, peach and lemon followed on the palate where the cherry took center stage. The wine exhibited great acidity and balance. It was light-bodied and demonstrated good length. This wine would do well as an aperitif. It would also pair nicely with a butternut squash lasagna.
This wine* can be purchased for $28 directly from the winery’s website.

2019 Battuello Vineyards Valdiguié Rosé
The color of the Battuello Rosé of Valdiguié 2019, St. Helena, is a lovely medium copper-salmon hue with a flush of smoky topaz, yes, sort of hypnotic; the wine reveals admirable delicacy and elegance in its nuances of strawberries and raspberries, with notes of pomegranate and cranberry, melon and heather, and just a hint of flint; bright acidity lends liveliness to subtle cherry-berry flavors that unfurl touches of lilac, rose petal and blood orange; from mid-palate back, a thread of limestone minerality gives it all a crystalline spine. 12.5 percent alcohol. Bring on the cold fried chicken and deviled eggs, the cucumber and watercress sandwiches, the rabbit and duck terrine with crusty bread; or just sip as a delightful aperitif. Excellent. About $28.

2019 Battuello Vineyards Valdiguié Rosé
This is the only example of Valdiguié rosé that I can remember tasting, and I’m glad it made its way into my tasting queue. It’s hard enough to find a domestic example of Valdiguié in its red wine form, and I’m almost always a fan when I do. This pink version is a winner as well, mixing flavors of peach and strawberry over a zesty acidic structure, finishing long and leaving me salivating for more. If you’re tired of the same old rosé, give this a swirl. 90.

2019 Valdiguié Rosé
The brilliant peachy-pink hue simply glows. Rising from the glass are scents of lemon blossom, and a strawberry field brimming with ripe fruit. On the palate, the berry theme continues with red raspberries and strawberries accented by citrus, subtle black pepper, and minerality. Beautifully balanced and refreshing with a zesty finish.

Battuello 2019 Rosé of Valdiguié
From estate-grown grapes, this wine is acid-driven and steely, made in a light, fresh and austere style. Lemongrass, lemon peel and wet stone accent the palate and intrigue. The variety is a rarity in the New World, let alone the appellation.
RATING 88
