There is something almost magical about harvest season in wine country. As the days grow shorter and the morning air carries a welcome chill, the vineyard shifts into its most intense and rewarding rhythm of the year. Grapes that have been slowly ripening under the summer sun are finally ready, and every decision made in the preceding months comes down to this moment. Timing is everything — pick too early and the flavors haven’t fully developed, wait too long and you risk losing what the season worked so hard to build.
Harvest is never a solo effort. It takes an entire team working in close coordination, from the cellar crew managing fermentation to the pickers moving carefully through the rows at first light. There is an energy on the property during these weeks that is hard to describe — equal parts exhaustion and exhilaration. Long days bleed into longer nights, and somewhere in between, wine is born.
Once the fruit is in and fermentation is underway, the waiting begins. The cellar becomes a place of quiet observation, where the winemaker checks in daily, monitoring temperature, tasting, and making small adjustments that will shape the final wine years from now. It is patient, deliberate work — a reminder that great wine is never rushed.
We are grateful for every harvest, whether it delivers a blockbuster vintage or teaches us something new about humility and adaptation. Each year the vineyard offers something different, and that variability is part of what makes this work so endlessly interesting. We look forward to sharing what this season has given us with you in the months ahead.
